“Funked Up Blues” with Mojomama

When the blues band, Mojomama, takes the stage this coming Wednesday night, we promise that you will be anything but blue. In fact, it might be wise to bring comfy shoes for dancing. Mojomama offers a fresh yet familiar vibe, merging traditional R&B and funk with a modern twist. Each concert takes audiences on a journey through not only their trademark R&B and funk style but also jazz, swing and Latin jams, promising a dynamic musical experience. We are excited to welcome them to the Lagoon stage.

Lead vocalist and lyricist Jessica Rogalski is no stranger to the stage. Her talent has led her to perform with many bands throughout the past few decades and across multiple states. Backing up Rogalski is bassist Paul Rogalski, guitarist Bob Murnahan and drummer Paul Christiansen.

If you want to listen up to Mojomama’s music before concert time, fear not. Mojomama has completed two original CDs. Its album released in 2015 won Best Self-Produced CD and Best Female Voice from the Colorado Blues Society. In recent news, the band won the International Blues Challenge and will represent the Colorado Blues Society in Memphis, Tenn., in 2018.

As usual, a talented Little Kid Rock performer will open for the headliner. This week, we would like to welcome the band CLPE Ships Ahoy! (from Cache La Poudre Elementary School). While you are settling into your comfy lawn seats, mosey on over to this week’s food trucks: Wing Shack, Austin Taco, Umami, Divine Ice Cream and Human Bean Coffee Truck.

This week at the Lagoon will be especially memorable because event sponsor Houska Automotive will present a Project Self-Sufficiency participant with a refurbished vehicle at intermission.

So Lagoon fans, have we convinced you that this isn’t a show you will want to miss? The only thing left to do is pack your picnic gear and head to the Lagoon Summer Concert Series for music, food, giveaways and more! See you next Wednesday.

The Lagoon Summer Concert Series is produced by Mantooth Marketing with thanks to the generous support of Title Sponsors Colorado State University and Kaiser Permanente. Event Sponsors include The City of Fort Collins, Dellenbach Motors, Outpost Sunsport, Houska Automotive, Campus West Shops, DaVinci Sign Systems, Fort Collins Coloradoan, Rocky Mountain Collegian, and Townsquare Media.
