The Lagoon Summer Concert Series has always celebrated northern Colorado’s diverse music scene by embracing acts of all different genres. The June 21 concert will be no exception to that standard, as we welcome reggae band Tatanka to the stage!
Tatanka captures a traditional Caribbean reggae sound combined with pop influences from the Britannica-American reggae scenes. The group impresses audiences young and old with its positive lyrics and heavy sounds.
The group was formed in Denver by four college friends and has gained popularity locally and across the country. Its refreshingly unique sound has earned many honors throughout the past several years, including “Breakout Artist of the Year” (2014) by The Pier, High Times “Unsigned Band of the Month” (2011), and nominated by Westword magazine for “Colorado’s Reggae/Jam Band of the Year” (2015). Its most recent album, also titled “Tatanka,” debuted at #1 on the iTunes reggae charts and #4 on billboard’s reggae charts.
Little Kid Rock Band, “My Dog Ate Chad,” will have the pleasure of opening for Tatanka on June 21. Don’t forget to stop by our local food trucks while you’re there! This week, we will have Umami, Austin Taco, Sustainable Spoon, Ba-nom-a-nom and The Human Bean Coffee Truck.
